Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Competition (AMIC)

As a strategic part of the AMICCON continuum, the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Competition (AMIC) of AMICCON was started with the purpose of helping to strengthen the region’s global competitiveness by identifying, catalyzing the creation thereof and commercializing tomorrow’s manufacturing technologies.
Historically, a software startup company can build significant prototypes and even attract initial customers with little or no seed capital. However, entrepreneurs trying to create the future of manufacturing often require significant funding before they can build a prototype, let alone secure customers. When it comes time for early-stage financing from angels and venture capitalists, investors usually do the smart thing and avoid the higher startup-risk of manufacturing ventures.
Today, established manufacturers are facing the most intense, global competition in history. Companies that fail to capture tomorrow’s innovation will fall victim to the same competitive forces that have laid waste to certain industry sectors and so many once-great firms.
AMIC will match today’s industry sector leaders with tomorrow’s innovators through a business-plan competition unique to manufacturing. Innovators will have an opportunity to present their ideas to a panel of established industry sector leaders with deep domain knowledge and connections. The most promising innovators will receive mentoring and introductions to potential strategic partners.
Innovator candidates will then proceed to the competition finals where they will compete for an estimated $50,000 in prize money.
Those that serve as mentors, judges, and prize sponsors gain an unparalleled first-look at the nation’s most promising advanced manufacturing innovations and their inventors.
